Perhaps the oldest recorded instance of archery tournaments dates to about the year 1673 AD when a tournament by the name of 'Ancient Scorton Arrow' was formed in England in Yorkshire, which till date is the oldest tournament still being held in present times and for which there are many names of archery teams or clubs entered to take part in the tournament.
